When people say something they don't have any proof for, but seems to be right because it's the way grandaddy did things back on the farm, they call it 'common sense'.
Lots of people don't seem to have any because common sense is neither common nor, very often, sense!
For example, when I was growing up, people rubbed butter onto burns as a cure. It was 'common sense' that butter would 'soothe and moisturise' the burn.
Nowadays, we know that bit of common sense caused scarring, infections galore and lots of extra pain.
Often, common sense is just local or family tradition, trotted out because it's easier to follow an existing path than examine alternatives. And, it's not at all like the accumulated wisdom of centuries, most of which tells us to open our eyes, look around and find out for ourselves.
If we want answers to the things that interest or perplex us, we need to go beyond soothing platitudes and take the chance of discovering answers that are right for ourselves, our times and our situations!
Good luck :-)

Some people have common sense some people dont. Common sense is not something that can be taught or learned. One can have book smarts, one can have street smarts and there are many that have both, and there are some that have neither

Now that's not really a question. you've answered it yourself,
Your decisions are based on what the average person would come up with average=common.
However, did you know that there's a correlation between common sense and intelligence, i bet you didn't but i bet you've seen it at work.
the cleverer the person the less common sense they have. you watch.

The truth of the matter is, not that they don't have them but rather they don't use them. Using them will hurt their ego and pride and bring about repentance for all their actions thus far are counter-common sense. Not using their common sense is their "comfort zone" so to speak

True, the average I.Q. is 100, that's like being retarded, so I guess common sense should be called exceptional sense.

i think that lots of people have common sense, they just refuse to use it. why are people so damn rude? thats an even better question. i don't know if you've noticed, but the rudest people are usually the dumbest.

I guess it is not all that common or maybe it is sense that people SHOULD have.

because sometimes "common sense" is being used by some who want that particular thing to be common ,when in reality it might not be....sometimes ones "values" are expressed by that phrase....
