Many Mexicans are unhappy with our unsuccessful actions to build up the Mexican economy and as a result millions of Mexicans are leaving their country for ours illegally. Is that the best solution to their problem?

Clearly we are not doing enough to build up the Mexican economy and it is shameful that we have not enacted a regime change in Mexico like we did in Iraq. Mexico has been our neighbor since the beginning of time and we put all our efforts into Iraq. Insane!

In your opinion how can we make this up to the Mexican people?

Where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that it is "OUR" responsibility to support another nations economy. Listen up, Dog, you are a little pitch in there and I don't think you really thought out this selection tonight. I give you a 2.

Here's a wild idea: How about MEXICANS build up Mexico's economy! Do you think I'm on to something here? We have not been neighbors since "The beginning of time" The US didn't exist till 1789 & Mexico became independent a little later. In the early years there was really no shared border. WE are not responsible for THEIR economy. Untill & unless Mexicans take responsibility for their own lives, Mexico will remain a failed country.

I hope you are joking.

When does personal responsability come into play?

Mexico has many resources, they are just not run well for economic prosperity.

It does us no good to invade Mexico. Then what? Will Canada then be on gaurd against us too? Don't rock the boat with your neighbors. Few things are worse than hostile neighbors.

Think of the response we would get back from Mexico if we invaded it. We'd be greeted with an entire nation ready and willing to "invade" our country so that they can defect, only now they will have guns and armor.

There is nothing to be made up for. It is not our responsibility to prop up their economy. It might be to our benifit (though I question that), but it is not our resposibility. They are not coming to our country because of our failures, but because of their own failures as a nation.

Adios, amigo!

it is not our job to worry about anyone but the U.S and i don't think the Question is what should we do to make this up to Mexico but what has Mexico done for it self most brave men stay and have a revolution not run away to steal form another. quote Washington" He called for an America wholly free of foreign attachments, saying the United States must concentrate only on American interests " but maybe you are right how many mexicans would like to see the US invaded Mexico and set the world right like we are doing in Iraq.

Gee, I read how companies are building in Mexico and shutting down US sites. Check out General Motors, and many others.

Don;t fool yourself...it isn't just the jobs and the economy...it is the existing economy in the USA that is compelling to Mexicanos to come here. The schools, health care and social safety net are already here. When you have ignored that for years in Mexico, it doesn;t emerge automatically.

Why are we responsible for building Mexico anyway? They are big boys and can/should make a plan and run their own country. The corruption and graft there have prevented it in the past. My advice to Mexico is fix yourself or die a slow death. Look around at your neighbors. Brazil fixed themselves. so did Chile, and many central American countries.

Well , you got a lot of good answers to this question. But my question is why do you think it is our responsibility to build up any other country's economy????? If we police the world and financially control many other countries, you do realize, we are only doing it because we want to control the world. It's not done out of sacrifice or humanitarian feelings. When we help other countries, we are doing it for selfish, greedy reaons. Some of the poorest , most economically depressed people in the world live in Africa. and we aren't there. Why? Maybe they don't have any resources that we need or want.

Make what up to the Mexican people? Mexico's problem's are the Mexican government, not ours, How many working American families do without, while illegal immigrants, who do not have either the courtesy, or ability to learn to speak our language have free access to health care, food stamps, housing etc. WE OWE NO NATION ANYTHING if any thing most of this world owe this nation for the years and years of upkeep and sacrifice that our people have made for them.

The former President of Mexico Vincent Fox, now retired to his lovely ranch said in his presidential speech as how he was going to help the people there. HE LIED!

Why is it our (USA) problem to build up their country, the people should stay and take the initiative to build up their own country. This country is run by thugs, drug cartels and dishonest law enforcement. And what do they when they cross our borders, they break the law, for most are on illegal drugs and create more crime 4-to 1, are arrested every day in this town.

I can't conceive 12 Million illegals here in the USA with more on their way, and they (Bush) wants to give them amnesty. This is unreal. Guard our borders with what ever it takes!

By providing an escape valve for distressed Mexicans, we have unwittingly kept the corrupt Mexican regime in power.
Sometimes what appears as compassion is not the best solution to an injustice.

Ha Ha you must be joking. You need to find out how much money is wired to Mexico on a daily basis. Most new immigrants here wire money home. How can they do it? Well, they get free health insurance and other low cost subsidies to support their often large and low-income families. We also have many companies in Mexico that employ Mexican workers.
