Please take her to the local animal shelter. DO NOT release her into the wild. She could die within a few days and its not good for the wild habitat either. If you want to let her go, you're doing it because you care about her and you know she deserves better. Someone will adopt her from the shelter, but if shes alone in the wild she might not now how to fend for herself considering shes been living in captivity for so long.

Releasing a domestic, non-native species into the wild is illegal. I'm not sure if that's what you meant by "getting rid" of her.

If you don't think you can provide a good home for the turtle, you should probably look into an animal adoption service. Turtles can live a very long time and require a strong commitment.

You should let her go if you can not give her the habitat and life she deserves. Just make sure you rehome her to some one who can give her the life she would be happy in. NO! Aquariums! Please!
Ideally- a set up would be an outside enclosure area and a place to bring her in at night.
Good luck!
You do love her, just by asking this question and realizing that she is not happy.

If you or her are unhappy, change things.

Can you, or WOULD you do what it takes to set her up with a good habitat? It can run about $150+ to make a good turtle home that is pretty low maintenance once it gets going.

If not, then give her away.

Letting her go after 2 years is not a real good idea.
