Hi, I was fixing my boss' computer since it was FULL of viruses and spyware, and I started it in safe mode and then restarted it in normal mode, but one major problem... XP LOST THE NETWORK SETTINGS! I can't seem to get it to detect the network anymore! I need help on how to add this computer back onto the network without tearing down the network and building it back up. PLEASE HELP! I love you for it!
Is there any way fro me to retrieve the netsetup.exe file?
It seems like it doesn't find the other network even if I put them in the same workgroup...

Okay, let me clarify, there is another computer on the network that is working just fine, so the problem is at the computer level. I'll have to try to fix the socket though, thanx. But maybe there's more suggestions?

Minus the 'I love you' bit ..

Are you on a domain ? if so, check your DNS settings, also is the network drivers installed ?
And the last thing I will check is the socks, it might have been damaged, so try download a copy of Winsockfix

Are you having a problem connecting to the router (you have no IP address) or are you having trouble seeing the rest of the network?

Look at the network setup on another computer. Is it set to obtain an IP address automatically, or is one set in there? (If there's one in there, you may have to find out, from your network admin, what address that computer has to be.)
