Let's be realistic here.... The father of the baby is 17 and if he wants to see the pregnant girlfriend there is no way in hell his mother is going to be able to stop him.... Does she keep him on a leash 24/7?
He's 17. He doesn't sit at home with mom all the time. Are we sure he isn't using this as an excuse to try and avoid the situation he helped create?

Well, first it's good that you and your boyfriend are committed to your relationship. Unfortunately your parents are pressing charges and that sucks because it is considered statutory rape and he will be considered a sexual predator according to the law for a really long time - pretty much forever. If you two plan on staying together for a very long time (hopefully 50 or 60 years) then your parents aren't helping matters any by presing charges. What's done is done. Don't get angry, I say, find a resolution. If your mother and stepfather have allowed your boyfriend to move in they can't toss him out if he has no other place to go without first presenting him with an eviction notice... look this up in your government pages. I live in a different state but that's the law here. As for meaning anything with regards to your father and stepmother, I think you'll have to find out what the divorce papers say. Really, they can't tell the other parents who can and cannot live in their home and you're old enough you can choose who you want to live with. I certainly don't judge you as I think keeping a baby is probably the hardest thing to do in this day n' age when abortion and adoption are the alternatives. However, go to Planned Parenthood and pick up some contraceptives, k?

He is a minor, so she can try. However, he is also the father of the baby and has legal responsibilities associated with that regardless of how his mother feels about it.

While his mother can legally keep him away from the mom of his baby, she cannot keep him away from his baby. At 16, she cannot prevent him from seeing the baby's mom, although she can be a real jackass about it.

Doesn't matter how old the father is, he has a responsiblity to the child. I would suggest your friend get legal advise asap! Before the baby is here!

I don't think this is legal, he has an obligation to care for his child. If he doesn't want to stay away from his child's mother than he doesn't have to.

not legally no unless she has a very good excuse as to why he should.
if she did that and he followed orders, that could be neglect on him for the child.
