Anyone here find it funny how the media constantly portraying men/husband as dumb, dopey and goofy, while the wife/women is smart and intelligent?
I find it funny because, in REAL LIFE, it is actually the complete opposite

Bro its safe to say that men and women are equally dumb, dopey and goofy but in different ways.........and at different times usually over different things..........

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the complete opposite. As I'm going to naturally defend my honor. However, I've seen my share of commercials recently that do portray the man as being dopey and in the same aspect of that commercial the woman is usually the arrogant or "eviler" of the two. Which is also unfair.
There are definetly some dopey people in the world men and women alike. The fact is the media portrays a "world" that is funny, sexy or truthful. It's just how advertising is. The media also bases commercials on demographics. (Where people live, who people are, money, all sorts of things).
In real life, anyone can be dopey or goofy or dumb when presented with a foreign situation. As nobody is perfect, even the people who claim to be perfect and/or normal. Which poses so many other questions.

I like what Bugsy had to say. No, it is not funny. I am glad that you wrote the question, because now I know I am not the only one picking up on this male-bashing. It is reverse sexism. If it were done to women they would be screaming their heads off but it is ok to do it to a man. Men have always been seen as the big lunks who are supposed to take it, so doing anything at their expense has been ok. Many women like to seem cool and superior by making jokes at men's expense, "Oh I'm just teasing" they say. Don't let me get started on this subject. No, it's not funny and it's not right.

Yes, in most sitcoms men are portrayed that way but in real life it depends on the couple. Yes, some girls can be dumb and/or goofy but so can some men.

I don't find it funny,not because it is opposite, but because that kind of disrespect teaches a bad message to entire family's who watch it. Especially when a Christian Husband is suppose to be the Spiritual Head of the Family.

yes it is and sad too-those that control the tv media seem to have this in heart mind and emptiness of soul.
what got me to believe in good role models and to share the truth=what helped me first to see through living a life of lust and using others was=learning about Jesus and then now to teach people to live free-, and Jesus can save them gets set free from hate and learns as Jesus says to even love your friends & enemies and share the gospel with them=how I came to have this help in true love -John 3 repented of sin and born again asking Jesus to my heart in to be my best friend. I prayed as he said to "I love you and knock to come into your heart door, to forgive sins and become your friend, if you repent (even of one lie) and ask me in." Revelation 3:19&20 so I prayed "thanks for dying for my sins, Im sorry for my messing up, help me come into my heart and be my friend, amen." And it worked!
