It's not unpopular in all cultures. It hasn't stuck in western cultures because of our concept of nuclear family units which involve one mom, one dad, assorted and kids and a pet.

Given the amount of work it took to run a household years ago, I would think the more hands, the easier the work would go. I don' t think, that if your culture accepted many wives, you would be all that worried about 'your man'. In the past too, it was dangerous for women to have babies so a few more wives would be a plus in terms of giving a woman a break between pregnancies.Just off hand, btw, the Chinese, and Muslims and of course the Mormons had multiple wives, again it was done mostly in areas where there was high mortality in childbirth, and much difficult physical labor as in pioneer days.
In easier times, a mans worth was judged by his womans jewels and appearance, that would be difficult to do in multiples.

hey I know where you are going with this...but let's understand something...

Mormons didn't CHOOSE Polygamy because the thought of threesomes were the way to go...

Mormons chose polygamy because most of the men who went to war in Missouri were killed so when they moved to Salt Lake City there were not enough men to till fields and have a community...so the men that were there took care of the families that existed and the wives who had lost their husbands ...many against their will and they all understood that it was purely for a temporary time..ONCE Utah was made into a state..then polygamy was gone for good!!

Marriage was and always will be meant for two people..

Obamas' Presidency has created unpredicted divisiveness that many individuals did not see coming. mockingly Hillary lost through fact she exchange into considered via too many as divisive. Obama exchange into elected in keeping with wish, exchange (we concept constructive) and therapeutic the country. I even have not study or heard one favorable opinion of self assurance from experienced, economists in Obamas rules...outdoors of his very own small team of advisers in Washington . Obama has failed not through fact he has not succeeded in turning the economic device around...individuals could nicely wait and notice in the event that they have confidence the management. Obama has did not carry the have confidence and self assurance of the yankee human beings. He keeps to lose self assurance and credibility. The destruction of wealth...our tax base and continued reckless spending of money we've not got will effect in super unrest, deeper recession and capacity melancholy. maximum "unpopular"President...very achievable. plenty worse could be... "maximum failed" Presidency. That found out could point out the slide into an entire scale melancholy!!

For one thing, it's almost always the male with multiple spouses. Women are natural rivals and sharing a man goes against their nature.

Females are too predatorial and competitive to accept anything else... rather territorial. It's our natural instincts. When we see another woman eyeing our man, we feel threatened. Also, it is healthier for our family (would you want 5 different guys raising 5 different children in one house?) and it is a natural instinct of most mammals.

Actually it has been popular through out history. Women don't like it, because it was generally about ownership, and no one should own another literally or figuratively

It hasn't been unpopular throughout the history of marriage. It is still quite popular around the world today. Obviously you haven't been doing your homework.
