Aaron Brooks is one name that comes to mind. He went 7-4 the year he replaced Jeff Blake as the Saints starter and the folllowing year he was given the starting job. Yes he set franchise records, but he also caused more Saints fans to get gray hairs, caused more cigarettes to be lit and caused many to have that one extra drink. And what the hell happened to Olandis Gary? He ran for 1000 yards for the Broncos one year and its like he vanished into thin air. KGB from the Packers isn't even a starter anymore after he had a few years of double digit sacks. And for the person who mentioned that douchebag Sanjaya, the question pertained to "flash in the pans" He never actually flashed, unless you're talking about his effeminate mannerisms.

One Name KI-JANA CARTER-After being selected as the number one overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament on his third carry of his first preseason NFL game of his rookie year. Carter never fully recovered from the injury, which robbed him of his speed. Carter is regarded as one of the biggest draft busts of all time, compiling only 1,144 rushing yards in 10 seasons.

Honorable Mention-Akili Smith-He was the third overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft after fellow quarterbacks Tim Couch and Donovan McNabb. Despite incredible shows of athleticism in his early games, he failed to grasp the Bengals playbook fully, and never established himself with the team. Throughout the four years he was with the Bengals, he would only start in 17 games, eventually leading to his outright release in the 2002 season. In 2003, Smith tried out as Brett Favre's backup, but again failed to mesh with the team. In 2005, he was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a visit to NFL Europa where he started 4 games. In 2007, Akili Smith signed a two year contract with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, where he is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job with another former NFL player, Henry Burris.

I'm a little younger, I'm gonna go with David Boston. He was on the Cardinals, 4 that 1 year, he was amazing. Then, he disappeared, like he was part of a David Copperfield act.
