If the past never mattered, why would their be a rivalry. There would be no rivalry. Babe Ruth would mean absolutely nothing if it never mattered. Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio, Yogi Berra, Ted Williams, they all would mean nothing in our lives.

Also, I always hear about 2004 from Red Sox fans. They still think they deserve respect 4 that. OK, u broke the curse, now what. Do u expect the other teams 2 just bow down and give u the trophy.

Ummm, sox fans, that was 3 years ago. It's 2007, not 2004.

Enjoy ur success now, cause u know it will be short - lived.

Thank god! A sane person speaks the truth.
Past doesn't matter: YEAH RIGHT! Of course the past matters. The past leads up to the present. It motivates present day players. The past is the root of all these stories, records, famous greats from every team. You don't see a lot of that today. History is just as important as the present. Sure, everything happened in the past. But it's not like anyone is going to just forget about it all because of that! I mean, is there a single person in America who has not heard the term, "Babe Ruth." Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Reggie Jackson, Whitey Ford, Roger Maris, Billy Martin, Yogi Berra, Don Mattingly, Thurman Munson, they all make up the Yankee past. They are remembered for their passion for baseball. Of course the past matters. The past marks everything important. The first black player in pro baseball, Jackie Robinson. The most amount of homeruns, RBI's, set by Hank Aaron. The past is ALWAYS important. It will never fade out.

Yankees Love. <3

I believe we say it regarding how the players perform in the present. The past does matter, but Yankees winning the most championships in baseball doesn't mean that this year's Yankees team will win another one. Nor does the Sox history of not winning championships mean that we won't win one this year. Also as far as I'm concerned the Red Sox have a bright future with many exciting young stars rising through the ranks of the minor leagues so don't use the past or your prejudices as a prediction for the future.

The Yankees are having a losing season so suddenly the past has meaning.

"The past doesn't matter" is a common cliche uttered across all sports and teams. It means that the championship we won last year, or the 100 games we lost last year have no bearing on the current season or indeed the current game being played.

Now stop whining about Red Sox fans. Good lord!

If the past doesn't matter, why is Boston's success going to be short-lived? Based on what's happened this year, you'd have to say the Red Sox look good for the rest of the season.

this is humorous to pay attention that the yankees choke contained in the postseason! lol for sure there have been 26 cases they did no longer choke. yet i assume in case you have been there maximum of cases you're guaranteed to lose now and then. possibly in a hundred years sox followers will see that yet no longer likely. truthfully the full element of the yankees procuring championships exchange into born contained in the 70's whilst unfastened agencey exchange into new and particularly lots truthfully everyone exchange into attempting it. The yankees only had extra money and an proprietor keen to spend it. It paid off. It did no longer paintings so properly contained in the eighty's and by employing the ninety's that they had long previous decrease back to the homegrown path with unfastened brokers to help those gamers. Plus the easy actuality is the yankees are the super degree, they have that custom and point of excellence that impressive gamers gravitate in direction of, so of path they're consistently contained in the working for impressive skills. the only element incorrect with the 12-3 assertion is that regardless of the reality that proctor exchange into contained in the ny farm gadget he's truthfully a dodger product and alter into aquired contained in the ventura commerce alongside with bubba crosby. nevertheless however the ny gadget did in the main strengthen him. Karstens, and Thompson got here by employing employing different companies and that i'm particularly specific henn did too. until eventually the sox (no longer that it's going to eever take place in all probablity)catch as much as the magic 26 or despite that style grows to in the previous they could catch up, sox followers will carry close to to any excuse for his or her many years of being 2d. Sox followers will bash me although this is the reality and that i stay contained in the middle of sox usa, so I pay attention it daily. As for gazing yankee history and asserting they have been all geared up around men from othe communities---Did ya forget the 50's whilst they have been maximum dominate? mantle, ford, berra, howard, rizzuto, kubek, richardson, et al...? Sounds particularly homegrown to me. truthfully the yankees have been actually a homegrown type corporation from the mid 20's until eventually steinbrenner got here alongside. of path there have been some extensive aqusitions from different communities alongside with Ruth, bauer, Ruffing, Mize, maris, etc...yet each and every group did that. this is only much less complicated for some sox followers to declare the yankees purchase championships than admit they have been outplayed over the final century.

I've been a diehard Sox fan living in New England since 1971...i've never heard anyone utter that statement.

Why are you trying to start something? This year the Sox are the best team in baseball, and the Yankees, despite their payroll, are the worst.

Just deal with it and move on. Don't make up wacky "Quotes" to make yourself feel better...be bigger than that for cripes sake...

Because they are meatheads. Redsox fans talk out of their backside.

It's just some lame thing they say to make themselves feel good about their own situation. Do yourself a favor and just realize most Redsox fans are meatheads.

Now there's a loud Yankee fan who has the worst team in 20 years. Get rid of Torre, Jeter, Giambi, and the bullpen and they will win again

they say 'the past never matters' because they are probably ashamed about losing for like a century lol. but now that theyve won again (once), apparantly the past losing streak just doesnt matter anymore. cuz no one likes admitting they are losers ;)
