He is still way too young for cereal. However every baby is different. My brother was on rice cereal at 3 months. he was also a HUGE eater as my mom could pump several bottles out of one breast in a feeding period. LOL.

If I were you though I would wait a couple months before starting him on anything else. You might try a different flavor cereal. My kids' doc said to start with only one flavor then slowly move to others to rule out possible allergies. as far as baby foods go. Wait till he's 6 months of age.

Your baby shouldn't be eating rice cereal at all. The normal age to start rice is 4 months. At 6 months you can introduce barley and oat cereal. Also after you have introduced all the cereal you then can introduce fruits and some veggies. Your going to make your baby over weight. It might be cute now to have a chubby baby, but it won't be cute when people make fun of him in school. You need to let your pediatrician know what your doing.

The AAP recommends that infants don't start solids [including rice cereal] until AT LEAST 4 months of age but prefer that they wait until 6 months of age. This is because before this point most infants are not developmentally ready to handle solid foods. They do not possess the head and neck control require and many still have the extrusion reflex [the natural inclination to push things other than milk out of the mouth with the tongue]. Also their digestive systems are not mature enough to handle the new foods. They are at greater risk of obesity, diabetes, and allergies.

Hope this helps however if you really want the skinny go directly to your pediatrician.

11 weeks? He's too young for rice cereal! Until they're 6 months old, babies should only be fed formula and/or breastmilk.

He's too young to be on cereal let alone anything else. You really shouldn't be starting him on anything until the pediatrician says. They shouldn't start cereal until 4 to 6 months old. You can make them really sick if you start too soon. He's not at the right weight or anything to be starting. So yea he's too young. Don't rush things with him. You could end up hurting his little stomach

My mom and that i had this communicate those days. She pronounced that as quickly as i became 3 weeks previous she took me to my grandmother (who I ought to show raised 12 healthful toddlers who're all nonetheless alive to this present day) and my grandmother after a pair hours of me crying pronounced to my mom "shes ravenous!" and he or she gave me a sprint spoonful of infant cereal and that i ended...and my mom would feed me a sprint tiny little bit of it and that took care of any fussyness/extra spit up and so on. My grandmother did this with all of her toddlers and with each and all of the (many) grandchildren she watched and helped advance and all of them are high-quality and healthful. confident there are a pair who're obese yet extra that at the instant are not and in a society the place maximum of people are obese thats exceedingly good odds. in recent times they say do no longer try this do no longer try this through fact there are sooo many skill hazards yet truthfully, even nevertheless I have faith my typical practitioner, I even have faith the girl who raised dozens of youngsters (her very own and others) So i think of a sprint cereal ought to no longer harm something And to the mothers who desire to be nasty approximately formula fed toddlers? i became a formula fed infant and that i'm no longer nor have i EVER been obese...i'm presently breastfeeding yet i understand that some human beings can't and you be attentive to what I say? as long through fact the infant is chuffed and healthful thats all that concerns and no count in case you like it or no longer formula fed toddlers are extremely commonly the two...its very very nearly such as you desire people who bottle feed to have ill, fat childrens just to make your ingredient (reason good now you haven't any longer any floor to stand on)...try to be ashamed

Your baby is too young- EVEN for rice cereal. Your baby may eat and seem to like it, but his tummy and intestines are not mature enough. If you told your pediatrician- he'd say the same thing.
