This most likely is not the national spelling bee. What happens is that teachers use spelling bees in the classroom for students to become excited about the competitive aspect of spelling. Those who do well might be invited to participate in a grade wide spelling bee at your son's school, then move onto larger, grade-based spelling bees. The kids in the national spelling bee have typically won spelling bees at the state and regional levels.

Damnit! I'm missing it! ****! Another year... and I can spell well... and it is well, not good... spelling is an action verb... you use well when it is an action verb... but you can say, "I'm doing good." But we have decided (my class) that it is not really an action to feel, really.
