Why doesn't the twins owner carl pohland pay to keep tori hunter. Carl himself is worth 2.9 billion dollars almost half of all of baseball. also why is he making the tax payers pay for his stadiums.

It is obvious he is tying to make a profit with his baseball team, which is why he's not spending any money. Keep in mind he's also received big windfalls from revenue sharing as a result of the Twins threating to fold five years ago. Yet, Bud Selig likes the guy, so he's allowed to get away with this.

I dont think salary cap is a good Idea it would put a crutch on capitalism which is something this country was built upon, WHY should someone be punished for being successful. If someone is good and a team or organization feels they are worth 100 mill for 4 years than they should be entitled to it. I think a cap would be hinder several capitalistic values. If the small market teams want better players they need to raise the funding everyone at some point had to make their way to the top. We live in America and anyone who works hard and tries can be successful. update: All capitalist defend at all times even the NFL and NBA. I never said it didnt happen, it is the Leagues decision. I am sure the players were upset with salary caps. I don't believe in Monopolies for this very same reason, but everyside has its pros and cons. Monopoly benefits up and comers while at the same time punishing the successful

Pohlad cares NOTHING about winning. Absolutely NOTHING. It has always been and will always be about dollars and cents to him. Remember, he "volunteered" to take a payout from MLB for many tens of millions of dollars to have his team contracted.

The irony is, despite having this foul-some owner, the Twins continue to be successful, competing for and winning divisions. The Twins deserve better, and the people of Minnesota deserve better.

EDIT: Hey Yankeejet - you had to take a swipe at the Red Sox? You must be really insecure. I'm a Sox fan and I wish I had an owner like Steinbrenner. He may not make the right decisions, but he isn't afraid to spend money.

Pohlad did not GET to be a billionaire by being generous with his money. Expect this to continue until such time as he shuffles off this mortal coil (he's nearly 90, and even billions can buy only so much longevity), though there's no telling what a new owner might do. At least the new park should lock out the threat of relo for a few decades.

Edit: correction, he's over 90, turns 92 in August. Tick-tock, tick-tock...

Because baseball is a business. It has to be run as such and try your best to make a profit.
On the other hand, no city should pay for a new stadium. Unless they own and operate it for a profit too.

It's still a business and not every owner is like steinbrenner. On the other hand, what Minnesota and Oakland have been able to accomplish with a small payroll is a credit to the origination.

Cause he's a selfish idiot. Wants it all 4 himself. Bet u he doesn't even care about the team.

Oh yea, expect 85% of Red Sox fans, or any fans 2 mention George Steinbrenner.

He didn't get where he is by losing money. I am sure he looks at baseball as another business of his. It's human nature to want more money than you already have....

I guess that he is hoping that he will find someone better(You will never replace one of the best, if not the best defensive center fielder to ever play the game) he also is a DUMB@$!
