How do you know if you're in love or merely in lust?

I live in Las Vegas where people generally decide on who to marry based on 95% for looks and 5% convenience (who is there at the moment). Many marriages here end in divorce.

I believe that you should know you're in love based on 75% for looks and tone of voice, 10% for personality, and 15% for family background, ethnicity, and religion.

How do you think that you can tell that you're in love?

I can tell I am in love when one of us says something that really strikes a chord with the other and we realize how important it is to see eye-to-eye or be in agreement. Or just that we both think that some really stupid joke is funny.

I think the major thing you should look for in a potential wife is compatibility; you are going to have to get along with each other to make a long term relationship or marriage work. Make certain you get to know what the person is really like before even contemplating getting married! As far as looks are concerned, don't be too fussy; she needs to be sufficiently attractive that you won't be embarrased to be seen in public with her. Try to see what her mother looks like; that will give you a rough idea of what she will look like in 20-25 years. A lot of really beautiful women seem to age very quickly. Don't obsess too much about the race of your mate; if your lucky enough to recieve the gift of true love, don't worry about the color of the package! Make certain you don't get married too soon, a person can put on a pretty good act for about 6 months or so; you want to know what she is really like. If possible she what she is like under stressful situations; does she get really bitchy? This would be a warning to the wise. Also try to gather "intelligence" about her from her friends/coworkers (this is a little underhanded, but you really need to protect yourself from marrying somone totally unsuitable! Honestly, you are better off with nobody, than the wrong person! If you do find that perfect woman to have at your side in your journey through life, remember that marriage is like peace talks between two countries; you both have to be willing to make some consessions, or you're not going to get anywhere! One last thing, try to find a woman with aproximately the level of education you have (if she is way smarter or dumber than you there will be problems).

If 80% of your time together & your conversations together is always ex then its lust. If your in love you will spend time together and do family stuff. You will know each others family members and everything. If its lust everything will be hidden.

ask your self if one of you had to go away, and you had to conduct your relationship only via phone, would you last? than as far as looks all you need in that department is "are they attractive enough that when I see them I want them sexually" and "am proud to have them as my girlfriend" if yess to both loks are covered, but still is it love, well then go back to question one, "do I like/enjoy this persons personality and conversation and humor and stories enough for a lifetime. oh and as far as loks, I don't care if she is a playboy bunny, there is always someone hotter always, so stop looking for the best it doesn't exisit, if get a rise, and get excited when you see her, like I said, looks "covered'
