Innovation and rewards
If there are no I.P. rights, there will be no innovation, little R&D, because companies will know that their hard work and dedication will be copied soon, and their investments will have been wasted. Engineers and inventors work diligently knowing that they will gain significant rewards if they come up with innovative products that are protected by I.P laws.
That's why you don't see too much innovation coming out of China and other places with poor I.P. protection and I.P. law enforcement. Advanced Western countries have protected I.P. rights for hundreds of years. That's why they are technologically advanced.
