San Jose may appear to be kind of a "blah" city, but (despite what another person said) it does have a ton of history and used to be a very important city. There is an incredible Mission and historic district that you can visit. The university is one of the oldest universities in California and has a prestigious history. Also, the surrounding areas are wonderful. I'd suggest making the 30 minutes trek over highway 17 to visit Santa Cruz (Boardwalk, beaches, beautiful mountains for hiking) or Capitola. If you're into driving more you could take a day trip to Monterey or Carmel. There is a world-famous Aquarium in Monterey. Have a great trip!

It's just another city without much charm or historical significance. It's at the end of San Francisco Bay, about an hour to hour and a half drive. Not much to see or do outside of the Winchester House. It was pretty much the center of "Silicon Valley" before it went bust. There are still plenty of companies there, but that is just it...buildings with office workers.

Sorry to say but that is a long time to be in San Jose, I would have stayed in San Francisco and driven to the University.

Make sure you have a rental car and be prepared to drive to some great places. In San Jose you have the Winchester house, Japan town, Tech museum, and Santana Row. Outside of SJ you have Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Francisco, Great America, Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and Napa.

Have a great time and the weather is great!

Did you watch Oprah a few weeks ago? This guy was on to talk about where to meet men and he said San Jose is the best place in the country! So yeah, go out and meet men! :-) JK. Anyway...i've lived here all my life and it's not the best tourist town...but be sure to go to Santana Row, it's awesome!!

If you're renting a car, leave plenty of time - the airport is a mess - particularly if you come in on American or Southwest, it will take you a good 30 minutes to get out of the airport even if you DON'T check luggage. It's so sad - SJ used to be one of the easiest in/out airports around and now it is one of the worst!

Bring lots of sunscreen and a stylish hat especially if the graduation is taking place outside which it probably is.
