It just depends on what you're working with. I must confess that I use the square photo stickers at least half the time. I like the fact that I can lay down the paper I'm attaching and play with it a little because it won't immediately adhere. Then, when I sure of the positioning, I press it into place. I like to use the glue stick for little things. I generally use eyelets for vellum because it's hard to lay vellum cleanly with adhesive. And, if I want something to pop off the page, I use foam tape. Flowers are usually attached with brads.
Most importantly, always make sure everything is acid free.

I use tape runners, especially the Tombow Monoadhesive. It comes in a little cartridge, you run the end over the paper, and it lays down a strip of double-sided adhesive. I don't like double-stick tape because you have to keep tearing off pieces - the Tombow ones are so much easier and faster.
ALWAYS make sure your adhesive is acid-free.
And to the person above - it's "Mod Podge", and probably too messy for scrapbooking. My mom also calls it "modge podge", which drives me NUTS.

double sided tape. First, its concealed. Next, it doesn't add much volume (thickness) to the picture/something else. Another is that you don't have to roll tapes or get burned with the glue gun or make a mess with a standard glue. Lastly, it sticks well and much better than the regular scotch tape.

i use rubber cement. If you get some on the page or a picture, let it dry and then roll it off. I've used glue sticks but when the glue completely dries they get brittle and come off the page.I've been scrapping for 13 years and my books are still in great shape.

i'm no longer specific which type of scrap-reserving adhesive you are able to desire to get rid of, yet Goo long previous is impressive at removing adhesives of all varieties. i do no longer in ordinary terms like the scent and it could stain untreated wood because it somewhat is an oil based air purifier. i could recommend attempting a Mr. sparkling Magic Eraser (or the Walmart equivalent). those issues are marvelous and require no longer something better than water! I even have used them to do considerable cleansing with little attempt! in case you have no longer used one, you ought to! considered one of those ought to remedy your quandary, solid success!
