I have owned two close these. I had a 2003 C230 Kompressor sedan and a VW GTI VR6 which is pretty much the same as a Jetta.
Even though it had @15 less hp the VR6 accelerated MUCH harder than the Benz. You can really feel the difference. I'm sure the VW was lighter (never checked)and the gear ratios are shorter. On the other hand the Benz is more stable at speed and is obviously more a sophisticated chassis. If you want to go faster than a VR6 in a Benz it can be done easily in many other cars in their lineup - just takes $$$
I rented a V6 Mustang once when I was on vacation in Florida. Don't remember it being very quick at all but it was also an automatic where both my Benz and my VW were manual trans.

The Benz is a supercharged 4-cylinder, the Lexus is a V6. The engine design is simpler in the Lexus, and maintenance costs should be lower than the Benz. But the biggest factor is the salvage title that comes with the Mercedes. NEVER buy a car that has a salvage title! Also, don't worry about the guys, they'll compliment your vehicle choice no matter what you buy! Tinted windows and custom wheels will attract guys who are interested in your money, get some cute new clothes instead!

that supercharged four is only mediocre - you don't mention what car has stick vs automatic - but I'd bet on the VR6 Jetta - since you clarified the mustang was a V6 (V8 would win easily).

Straight line: Jetta, Benz and Stang, in that order.
Twisty road course: Benz, Jetta and Stang, again in that order.
The V-6 Stang will be WAY back in both cases. A Cobra would be a different thing entirely.

It really depends on the driver. But if the Mustang had a V8, it would kill the Benz.

If you eliminate the drivers, the only "objective" way to decide is to compare 0-60 each car specifications shows. That's it.
