Due to the fact that an ever increasing number of US teens cannot drive. They are too busy texting their friends while eating Taco Bell on the highway. 33% of US high school students do not graduate now. Waivers and exemptions could be made for kids who must work (and can prove it) or were in the military. Seems like a great idea to me, it would take millions of drivers off the road..????

It would virtually collapse the economy. Those teenage drivers you complain about, spend quite a lot of money in just the gas they use. They also pay for auto insurance, the Taco Bell they are eating, etc. Do as some states, like Alabama and Georgia have, instead. If you aren't enrolled in school, have a GED or Diploma, then you can't have a license until you are 19. If the state finds out, then they revoke your license until you are 21. Please note, that most accidents involving people text messaging while driving actually involve more people OVER 21 than Under 21. (This info comes from State Farm.)

I think the idea of a drivers license is wrong in the first place. Teens are not the only one's that can't drive. I drive for a living and I see all ages of incompetent drivers.

The only thing a drivers license proves is that you can pass a written test that you crammed for the night before. My city doesn't even require you to parallel park any more.

I've been driving since I was 12 years old on this country's highways. I used to drive when my grandpa and I would go fishing. He'd get drunk in the passenger seat while I drove us to the lakes and creeks. Age doesn't have anything to do with driving skills It's the level of maturity. Since a large portion of parents these days are raising spoiled brats your going to have more that don't give a crap about the rules of the road.

That would put more stress on the parents of these kids, having to take them everywhere. You would have more driving without a license if that happened.
I say make them graduate high school or get a GED, and have one year of a permit, regardless of age.
It doesn't matter how old you are, you're going to have someone of every age group texting and eating Taco Bell driving down the road. (Well, I don't really see a 65 y/o texting anyone... but you get my point... there are wreckless drivers in every age group.)

No. Realistically there are various aspects of the rustic that all of us isn't waiting to stay with out automobile fairly rural aspects. Many toddlers study the fee of a greenback and technical skills via going to artwork, which they might desire a automobile for. some faculties working example, very prestigious ones are remoted interior the path of nowhere. Many scholars use their autos to shuttle to cities to intern. additionally think of roughly it like this, if somebody gets their license at sixteen takes a protection driving direction and by no ability has twist of destiny till 21 has 5 years of sturdy driving history. this would make coverage extra decrease priced for them and time-honored all of us. If all of us had to attend till finally 21 to get their license then all of us would pay over the main appropriate for coverage for the 1st a number of years of their 20's. besides, specific youthful drivers are extra vendors to injuries yet many times it is those that ultimately have been given their license and did no longer have plenty prepare. in case you extra desirable the age to 21 then many extra persons 21 - 25 would be stepping into injuries.

Since I'm 32, I think that's a brilliant idea!

Now if I was 20, I'd tell you that it's the crappiest idea I've ever seen!
