May depend on the Laws of your State. Since you not give a State, call the Humane Society near you and ask.
Here an example, I use Kansas;

In search type "Your State" Humane Society

I believe that you can start to volenteer starting at 14 as long as you have a parent with you. If you really want to do something with animals this summer, I know that the Humaine Society has summer camps that you should look into.

yes! most of them require atleast age 16 & 18 to become a volunteer.
Perhaps if it is okay with your mom you could ask your local shelter if they need a foster parent and if your age would be okay?
However, it will be hard if you get attached when its time to hand them back over but ,just think of the good you did for it!

It will be a committement and when summer gets here and you might rather be out with friends your lil foster cat/dog needs your care...first!!

Also this will enable you to get your foot in the door so to speak' when you do become old enough they know they can trust you and you are dependable!!

Different humane societies are run differently. The only thing you can do is call them up and ask or walk in and ask.

Get involved with your local 4-H club. They have animal activities for kids exactly your age.
