I heard a seventh grader at my local middle school got pregnant for the fourth time. Should the parents have supervised her better? Or was it out of their control?

If it was the first time, I wouldn't think that the parents are to blame. Children do not always listen to their parents.
But the fourth time? There is a problem big there. The child needs more supervising, birth control and large bags of condoms.
If it was my 12 year that got pregnant.. I would supervise her activities alot more closely and put her butt on depo. I'd also show her LOTS of pictures of nasty STD's.

For the 4th time...yes the parents are irresponsible. After the first they should have discussed with her birth control and dragged her to the OB/GYN for a depo shot! Supervision may not be the issue because what she does when she leaves the house is sometimes uncontrollable, but they definitely should have brought her to the doc or a clinic for birth control, and not the pill because that's too much for a 12 year old to remember on a daily basis.

At 12 years of age, a person is not mature enough to make those kind of decisions so therefore her parents are responsible. They should be charged with neglect. If they could not control her then they could have filed "unruly child" charges on her and let someone else take control of her. For her to get pregnant that many times, she would have had to abort the pregnancies because a girl can't get pregnant until she has her cycle. At 12, I would say she has only been having it for about 2 to 3 years at most. If this is true and not a rumour, I really feel sorry for the girl.

I think that if a 12 year old gets pregnant (even once) that is just plain sad! If you state that this 12 year old got pregnant for the 4th time...that's just plain ridiculous and I definitely think the parents are to blame. A parent should have a very active role in their child's life and that should not stop at any age, especially 12!

No matter how hard a parent tries, kids will do what they want to do. Even if the parents grounded her, only allowing her out to go to school, that doesn't stop her from having sex in a school bathroom. Without knowing the details, there is no way to know for sure. You would think the girl would have remembered what her past 3 abortions were like and kept her legs closed. Oh well.

She got pregnant for the 4th time? One time, I can see it happening and it would not necessarily have been the parents fault, but 4 times? Definately needs more strictness and much better supervision. She needs some dang rules! Getting pregnant means a baby. A baby is a human life, which is not something to take lightly.
This is all assuming that she was not raped. If she was raped, it's not anyone's fault except for the ****** that did it to her.

4th time? She'd have to have gotten her period sometime around the 3rd grade! I'm not buying that.
But if it's true, yes. These parents are the most irresponsible dumb butts I've ever heard. They let their daughter run out and get pregnant FOUR TIMES? After the 1st one, they should have locked her in the house and never let her go anywhere ever again without adult supervision.

It depends on the circumstances. If this was a molestation and this is the 4th time, then yes, it is completely their fault for not protecting her. If this is a rebellious girl who is just sleeping around and not using protection, and the parents are doing everything in their power to keep her from the boy/boys, then you can't fault them completely and say they were irresponsible. Especially if this child is sneaking out to see her boyfriend and completely disobeying her parents. This is a hard call because I don't know the whole story.

If it were the first time then I would think of several reasons, but if it is the fourth time I would think that there might be something wrong with the parents or their parenting skills. Also it depends on the girl. IOf the girl is overbearingly rude, disrespectful then I would think it would be out of thier control because it might be hard to take care of somebody like that. So it depends on the girl.
