Since Israel has even more to gain (& a lot to lose if the US leaves) from the US occupation of Iraq than the US isn't it fair that they pay at least some of it?
Or should the US troops in Iraq be fighting & dying for Israeli security for free?

The Israeli army should be helping the US but they don't want the US-Israeli partnership be so obvious. I believe protecting Israel is a major reason why the US will always be in the Middle East and therefore Israel should help pay for this war and they probably do with the most influential lobby in Washington.

Well apparently they haven't gained anything except Hezbollah is now much stronger in their neighbor Lebanon from their Iranian Shiite friends. That wouldn't have been possible w/o our occupation in Iraq, so my answer to your initial question is absolutely No.

The US should stop aiding them $ 3 billion dollars+ a year and think about using that money at home like Immigration(yea hello?). If Israel is going to be using patriotic missiles to bomb Palestine in the name of "defense"(whatever that, Rockets vs Laser Guided Missiles) then I strongly oppose.
