I think so, unless energy was pumped in some time after the big bang . The clock's weights, or batteries eventually run
out because of the work they do against gravity and friction etc. The universe as a whole doesn't have to fight outside forces. I think general relativity provides for the possibility of a spinning universe but even then i don't see what could prevent it from spinning. Perhaps heat death is what you are refering to?

As for now even the best of scientific theory can never be precisely sure about the Universe. Of course the are things within our understanding with many more things which are opened to good intelligent speculations only.
As for the Universe being like the winding of a clock is a sort of theory too base on how one give reasons to suit that understanding. Well, all in all things like this give our mind some kind of excitement to pursue the wonder and mysteries of the unknown.

NO, not at all. You are thinking, but thinking in a contorted way. The Universe has nothing to do with time, or a clock, or being wound up like some mechanical time keeper.
The Universe is vast beyond your wildest imagination. what ever you think of or can conceive, the Universe is bigger than that. So, to try and minimize its immensity by thinking of it as a clock is just bizzare in the weirdest way...Smoking to many funny cigarettes....???

I am sure that it seems like that to some people and does not seem like that for other people. Some people like steak and some people like chicken.
