My dad and uncle both went to a certain medical school near where i live, and I am going to be applying there soon. What weight does the fact that they both went there carry on my application?

it should give you a good chance, although it wont be a 100% guarantee that you will get in. such as.. if you only had a 2.0GPA in college, then you're chances will be slim to none. but, if you are dedicated and got 3.5 or above AND family members who went there, it should be a better boost than if you didn't have them there at all.

Usually children or other relatives of alumni are given some consideration, but they don't get into the university unless they first meet the university's qualifications.

It might tip the scales in your favor if you and another student were being considered for the last slot and were evenly matched. Beyond that, you'll get in own your own merit.
