Each ownership team can set up their company how they want, but my educated guess is that most are either Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP), Limited Liability Corporations (LLC), or private corporations. Any of these forms would exclude you from owning a portion. Instead, if any partner or owner is a public corporation, buy that company's stock, then you can claim you own part of the team.
