Many Mexicans claim they are here legally as American citizens and are not illegals. This is probably true. But how many of the legal Mexicans do you think came here originally illegally, then was given amnesty in the 80s? How many legal Mexicans are the children of illegal Mexicans? What percentage of Mexicans here in the US do you think actually filled out the paper work, got a visa, then came here and went through the process to become an American citizen? My guess is less than 5%, but I have nothing to back this up on. The lack of data on this issue is surprising.

According to US Border Patrol reports from 2006, only about 15% of the immigrated Mexicans are here legally. The rest are here illegally.

The largest group of legal Immigrants in the USA are 1) Catholic- Mexicans 2) Catholic- Germans.

My ancestors were here as legal Mexicans and then Mexico became apart of the United States... where would that put them?

They were apart of that small chunk of Mexico in this map from 1847.
