So I came home today and I said hello to my father and he asked me how my day was and what I did today? I told him that I've been to school and I worked today. And he said "Where at?" (he knows that I have 2 internships that I'm doing this summer) and I said "In the writing lab." and he said "Do you get paid for it?" and I told him "No, I work for them for credit." and he tells me "Oh, well then it's not work. It's an internship." I'm sorry, I know there is no money involved(in either of my internships)..but do I not work on this internship? Is the work that I do not considered work? I ignored the comment because it wasn't worth battling because he's known to say stupid things. But honestly, whats the difference between the 2 other than pay??(and actually in the fall, they are bringing me back on a payscale, she just cant pay me now as a student)...?

Looks like dad ether took your comment to mean that you thought you were working a "real" job and thought to harasse you about it. Remind him this is colleage and is all about doing what you can to improve your chances at a career. Interships are part of that. And in a future sense are more important then a job right now. Jobs only get you so far, careers on the other hand are about investing time, money, and effort. Remind him about what it is your doing here.
