Go with the xbox360. The PS3 is not going to have a very long life span judging by the way it is selling. But if you want a bluray player, I would go with a PS3. Just remember, shadowrun and halo 3 are coming around the corner.

Ahhhhh...Sony haters. Why? I don't know, probably because like the PS2 the Ps3 is the best console available and this you will see over the next year to 18 months.
The Wii doesn't even count. It's a fad that will die out bigtime. It's not even "next generation"; the thing has the graphics that are questionably as good as the PS2 or original XBOX.
If all three systems costed 300 dollars PS3 would be selling the most, 360 would be in 2nd, and Nintendo would be belly up and bankrupt.
The PS3 is the best system for several reasons:
I'll start by saying I have a 360 as well and it is a very solid console and I have enjoyed it.
The PS3 is a technological juggernaut. It has a 3.2 ghz core cell processor accompanied by several other processors specifically harness to individually process graphics, sound, physics, lighting, a.i., etc. It's graphics are better, hell the PS3's "launch" games look as good or better as my 360 games and 360 has been out for a year and a half.
The PS3 also has of course the Blu Ray player. This in itself is huge for gamers. People may not realize this but a Blu Ray disc has the potential to store up to 200 gigs of memory! That means longer games, better graphics, hi def audio and video! The possibilities with this media are endless as their is so much room to store information. A HD-DVD (a $200 add on for the XBOX360) disc can only store 60 gig and a standard DVD has the potential to hold maybe 10 gig. So as you can see Blu Ray is the technology geared for the future.
Aside from the gaming aspect the PS3 has 4 USB inputs, Memory Stick Duo, SD, and FD inputs making it a total entertainment system. My PS3 stores digital photos, home videos, mp3's, etc. While I entertain guests we can all view these things on my TV and I only need the PS3 to do it. I can surf the web with the PS3 and online play is free!!! I must say that the 360's online service is more advanced but it does cost money.
People like to crap on the PS3 because it "costs so much". Yeah it is expensive but if you buy a 360 with the HD DVD drive and pay for online gaming guess what??? You just paid for a PS3 and you still don't have Blu Ray and all the other feature the PS3 has. Sony could have charged $1,000 for this thing and it would still be underpriced. I think Sony should be applauded for biting the bullet on cost and giving their fans a sick kick *** system for way less than it should have cost. You get what you pay for.
I recommend the PS3 highly. I like the 360 a lot but its already starting to collect dust. The Wii is a straight up joke.

I have a Xbox360, it never freezes when i play it, whoever told u that might have had it happened but it was probably the game Disc, not the Xbox itself... The main problem is that the 360 has small bugs, some things that can mess up components in ur system. My hard drive fried 4 days after getting it, for no reason at all, i got a new one for free and it never happened with it. But it wasn't getting progressively worse, it just up and died, basically. The other problem is that a lot of (actually most of) the games for the original Xbox are not playable on the 360, they are currently working on it, but by the time they get half of the games compatible, the next Xbox might be out. There is a list of games that are backwards compatible on the Xbox Website. U can update the 360 so that new updated Xbox games can be played, but the best way is Xbox Live, or burning it onto a special blank CD that u have to buy. The alternative is have them ship u one.

I have an xbox 360 and personally to me its great. Not only is the xbox 360 cheaper, but microsoft also has a free one year warranty for the system in case anything happens to it. The games are way better, and the xbox 360 has more to offer than the ps3. You will end up spending alot more money with all the things you will have to get. Get an xbox 360.

You should buy an Xbox 360. The games have better graphics, and it has better online play. If you buy an PS3, you would just be waisting your money

I do recommend the PSP because its got the same abilities like the PS2 like it can play movies etc.But there's also some downfalls for the PSP like, there's not alot of games and aside the fact if you have a game that requires wireless play you can't go far out of your connection place or you have to go through all this confusing reconnection settings and won't be able to play that game. But other than that its a well worth while investment.

Upgrade your computer with the money that you are going to spend on those. $50 here and there for console games adds up very quickly and you will find yourself saying" why didnt i just get the pc". Besides that i would get the ps3 since it has more capabilities.
