I live in the state of Georgia and I have separated from my husband. I want to know if by Georgia law, I am held liable for nonpayment of rent after the lease has expired. I've submitted my non renewal letter, notifying the rent office that I would not renew. My husband still lives in the apartment.

If you have submitted a letter stating that you have moved out and no longer wish to renew your lease you should be covered legally. Hopefully you kept a copy of that letter and if you didn't already....for future reference you should always send those type letters via registered mail with return receipt and keep your copy and your receipt for proof if you have problems.

No. Once you move and your name is not on the lease, he has to sign a new one with his name only. You are NOT responsible for an apartment if your name is not on the lease.
