I can speak from experience:

falling in love

Being held at gun point was only for a few minutes.
Falling in love lasts a long time and I can't stop thinking about him.

I have been held at gun point and trust me, your heart beats to a different drum.
When you fall in love your heart is happy to oblige, when you are held at gun point it wants to burst the heck outta there and run like crazy.
