There is a man that drives by everyday taking pictures of our home. We go outside to ask him if he needs anything and he just takes off. Is what he is doing legal? It kind of bothers my husband and me, makes us uncomfortable. Does anyone know what we can do?

It's legal. You should take HIS picture and get his license plate number next time he comes by, just in case it might come in handy later.

Depends on the circumstances. If the person who posted the pictures happens to be the person who took the pictures then there's nothing you can do. Since they're the photographer they own the rights (unless you have an agreement in place that states otherwise, which obviously you don't) If it's a situation where you e-mailed these pictures to someone and they in turn posted them or forwarded them to other people, than you can definetly go after them for copyright infringement.

A Picture Of A House

I agree with John it is legal, but you need to be taking his picture. Make sure he sees you do it. Bring your phone outside and announce loudly that you are dialing 911.

You could try calling the police non-emergency number and say someone who doesn't live on your street appears to be taking an unnatural interest in your house. They may laugh at you but they may actually do something about it. At the very least, they have to write down that you called, so it would be on file in case something did happen.

Did either of you do anything that would make someone want to sic a private investigator on you?

It's not illegal because it is in plain view, but if he has done it more then once I would phone the police.

People don't do that for good reasons, he may be stalking out your house for some reason.

Take down his licence number, discription of his car and if you can see him a discription of him and report it to the police.

It can't be anything good, don't put up with it!

While taking a photo of the home is not illegal, harassment is.

The next time you see this person, copy down the license number and call the police.

It's probably legal, but it's definitely creepy.

I would most certainly take down the guy's license plate, and consider filing a stalking case with your local P.D.

It's something called public domain. Technically it's not illegal to photograph objects clearly seen from a public area (like the street or sidewalk).

Maybe you should start posing for him, or put out nasty signs in your yard to ruin his pictures.

It's not illegal but you should be careful and probably report it to the police if he does it often.
