I have recently set up myspace page - and I am having absolutely no problems with it. But I have heard many people say that myspace is a bad place.
I must be naive, because I'm not seeing how.
Can someone tell me why it's getting so much crap.

Because it gets spam on it but you can protect yourself from that because I havent had a problem with it but I've gotten spam comments from friends that I can just easily delete. And stalkers and stuff like that can somehow stalk you or track you down but you can stop that from happening to by going into your account settings and setting your profile to private so that people have to ask you to be their friend before they view it and they cant view it unless you accept them. Thats really all I can think of.
To protect yourself from spam... dont read or click links on bulletins that are from friends but sound like something they wouldnt send out. And sometimes spammers get you by resigning into your account and your password and everything are sent to them. So if you know you're already signed in then check the address bar and make sure it says myspace.com or login.myspace.com. It usually tells you to check when myspace wants you to type your stuff in again because you didnt type something right.
I love it when parents blame myspace for things happening to their kids when its their own kids fault for not protecting themselves and talking to people they dont know. I think myspace has plenty of safety percautions and things to protect its users. I've been dealing with myspace for over a year and havent had any problems.

In your life, mines, and everyone else that's ever been on the Internet can find a problem with every site imaginable. People get upset with myspace because its close to 180MILLION users!! They either feel its a place where child molsters stalk little kids or an artist is trying to get a major record deal. I say to all haters if you've never had someone hit on you on myspace SHUT DA HELL UP!! And if a person feels like myspace is a TOOL to thier music success dont hate thier HUSTLE!!! It's funny cause you never heard anything about Blackplanet (do they still exist) or the very popular site Facebook. Why myspace? I have no IDEA.

I understand what u mean now....I think the people who are curious about it or just arnt computer savy or people that listen to to many bad things have a problem with it.I get the same thing from people I work with and they dont have any idea of what myspace is. all they know is theres a website called myspace and bad things have happened to some people. a small number I might add compared to the number of users. Don t let it bother you. It's crazy,... the fear of the unknown. I would ask them if they've ever been on myspace.if they havent, they dont know what there talking about. if its so bad why are presidential candidates using myspace.(i know its exposure to a younger group, so all u know it all's, that issue has been covered)PEACE

it does that at all times reason there's like individuals available in the market with myspace money owed that dont use them like their intended to and it has like a complete lot of stuff on myspace and it cant maintain so much untill Tom deletes the ancient ones and simply cleans it out reason as soon as a month he does this after which correct whilst he does myspace is quicker than ever!

If you put too much personal info on it, you can attract creeps. And kids too young to know better put a LOT of personal information in their MySpace pages.
Can't keep the creeps and pedophiles out, so there's potential for great badness there. But that's true of any online "community." Just be careful and don't repond to ANYONE until you can recognize the bad guys! And they're tricky.

Sometimes it goes through times it won't load. But its fine most of the time. Myspace is not that big of a deal. You can keep everything private, just don't put anything up you don't want people to know. I don't you it much, but its good to keep in contact with a few friends.

Because some people are being stupid on there and giving out personal information about where they live and stuff, and then some psychotic person comes and finds them and kidnaps them and stuff...So it's not really Myspace as some people say, it's the PEOPLE USING IT...They just don't wanna admit it, so they blame the site.

Just be careful about opening profiles of people you don't know, they often carry virus's and lots of videos on others pages have virusus too. Just be careful. MySpace is a great thing to be able to keep up with your friends.

Some people are dumb enough to put their school, adress, etc on there and some rapist comes and finds them. The people using myspace is the problem.

because there are a lot of predators on there.
just be careful not to put too much personal info on your profile such as your phone number, adress, or school.
i have a myspace too and i have made too many mistakes on there.
