About a week ago in overton nevada I was speaking with an animal control officer about my dog {who had gotten loose], and she stated that approximately 8 months ago there was a law passed REQUIRING all dogs to be neutered. She did state that there were exemptions for show/registered animals. As she did not want to cite me for this I have no reason not to believe her, however my friends do not believe its true when I tell them.I'm wondering if anybody knows where i can find the "printable proof" for this?

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, there are no state laws mandating spay/neuter for all pets (as of April, 2007).

Nevada requires that all shelter animals be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, but that appears to be the limitation on the law.

The Humane Society of the U.S. appears to concur...their list of states with legislation shows nothing of this type for Nevada.

it truly isn't any longer person-friendly to enforce a spay/neuter regulation, it may be exciting to understand. the city I stay in does not have it as a regulation, yet provides out spay/neuter certificates (in the time of the city and county) vets provide fee discounts to seniors and each twelve months they take 20% off of the surgery in February. Rabies certificates are additionally discounted for altered pets, and if an unaltered canines is got here across roaming there's a great. the city is decreased in length with Haven Humane and there euthanasia expenses have long previous up however the county shelters have long previous down.

I have not been able to find anything online that would require animals to be neutered/spayed. I suggest calling the Clark County offices to find out if this is correct. If it's not, I sincerely hope you report the officer in question; they only get to enforce laws, not make them up out of the blue!
