Cannot use a refrigerated air conditioning system ductwork with an evaporative sytems ductwork for a couple of reasons.
1/ The evap ducting has a larger circumference as it needs much higher airflows to give the evaporative effect which also usually serves many rooms in the home.
2/ Zoning of the refrigerated system (motorized dampers) are not suitable equipment for evap systems.

Replace the ductwork. And do it properly, get the sizing of the duct determined correctly for the length of the duct runs to the rooms. Balancing of the airflow is important as the outlet closest to the evap cooler will blow off your toupe :)

I've seen this in Vegas. In fact it was an Air Force air conditioning officer that put the swamp cooler into the air conditioning work in the house. It gave them more moisture in the home. I don't know the long term effects of it but, I would check this out before I would do it. It's a big job and would be murder to change it back.

Why would you want to? Love humidity? Want to rust your duct work clean through? Love mold, mildew? Looking to cultivate your own Legionaire's Disease?
