ALright so it states in the lease that he hes 60 days to return the deposit to is... That was yesterday.... On our notice of vacating the house 30 days before the lease was up... we had put our address on it! We are sure of this... Now this guy is an a**hole and Im not about to just "forget" about $1100. We cleaned the house better than it was when we moved in... there were a few things that we had left... there was damage to one of the doors, a light fixture had shattered, and i didnt clean the stove out, also left a bunch of trash there- i will add more about that in a min... I know for a fact that it wouldnt take $1100 to fix all that! So what do we do, and where do we begin in getting that back! From what ive heard, because we havent even received a note saying what it went to, that we can take him to court and get the full amount back and he pays for all fees and whatnot... So my question is what do we do... who do we talk to... Any other info is helpful... Thanks

Okay about the trash, when we signed our lease, it was included that he takes care of the trash....About 3 months away from the END of our lease he leaves a note on our door saying that he would not beable to handle it anymore because of something that happened with the trash company, like a rod being dummed or some crap like that.... We lived in Evergreen and when we had first moved in he told us that he takes care of it, because he p**sed off the trash company and they wouldnt pick up the trash at any of his properties any longer... So tell me what were we supose to do with it? Especially if it states in the lease that it would be his responsibility.... Help me out here.....

First, call the landlord and ask for the deposit. Tell him it's been 60 days and you would like your deposit back. If he refuses then check into magistrate court. Call your county courthouse. You can go to magistrate court if it's less than a certain amount. Here, I think it's $1500. It costs around $50 to file but usually you can get your hearing in about a week.

Talk to the housing authority in the area where the apartment is. Lots of landlords try to cheat on not returning security deposits. That's why lots of state and local laws have been established to regulate them. Good luck.

If you have his email address, write all this again in a story for him and then at the end ask him how he thinks a judge will take it. If you don't then send it registered mail and keep a copy for yourself.
At the end of it give him a date that you will be filing with the court should he not respond.
Then contact one of the many TV court shows ....Judge Judy or Judge Alex would eat this turd alive. Good Luck.
