Last year my old man and i went out for an afternoon ride... He was ahead of me on his bike and I was just relaxing and cruising behind when all of a sudden i hit some lose gravel going around a curve and couldn't get it back under control.
I slid down the highway fearful the cars behind me were going to run me over... the bike itself landed in a ditch tire to tire with only handlebar damage.
When my old man got back to me I had taken off my helmet and was sitting in a ditch begging him not to be mad at me as the bike was a gift from him... {we think of some of the stupidest things when we are hurt, LOL}
I was taken by ambulance to the ER when i had my road rash cleaned up and was Xrayed from head to toe. Except for peeling the skin from my left arm and back and a few minor bruises I was fine.
Got back on the bike the next day once the handlebars were replaced.

Several years ago I had a honda xl 250 with a few modifications for better performance, one of which was a nice set of off road knobby tires. I only rode it carefully on the street in good weather. On this particular evening it had started to rain during my 30 minute ride home from work in the dark.
About 5 minutes from home I approached a traffic light on a fairly busy 4 lane city street when the light turned yellow. I let off of the throttle a bit too quickly and the combination of rain, knobby tires, and high compression put me on the pavement instantly.
Sliding down the street, my helmet (with my head still inside) bounced off of the front tire of a moving car in the next lane , and I continued sliding into the intersection on my back.
Expecting to get run over by cross traffic, as soon as I stopped sliding I got up and ran for the safety of the sidewalk.
I looked around to see where my bike had gone, and it was wedged under the front bumper of a city police car in the oncoming left turn lane.
After a safety lecture and a ticket for illegal equipment, I was on my way again with a couple broken turn signals and a new respect for wet roads.

Had a few Crashes.
one time I was coming out of an exit, by the time I was less than 1/4 mile onto highway, I was traveling 115 and climbing. I was leaning about 30% onto an open lane, then nex thing I know a van Full of mexicans pulled out in front of me! I hit drivers rear corner! bikes actuall frame busted! I flew past a few cars that were traveling 75+, I rolled onto another lane and onto the shoulder, Got up and First thing I thought of was my BIKE!! it was like 500ft away from me! 2nd thing what went through my head was; how to get away from cops!! bc no registration, suspended license #12, no insurance. But I got away...
2nd crash was sort of stupid!! didn't really think much. I decided to wax the side walls of my tires, but not the actuall tire!! when I started driving, the wax just a little bit rollid onto the actual tire, so I was making one of my favorite turns at 85 miles per hour, after worming up tires... YEs, it did cought me by suprise! Thank God I didn't hit an oncoming car!!

Well...it was June 11th of 2005. I was out for my late night ride...heading down one of the main streets into town...when much to my surprise...there's a blonde standing in the middle of the road. And she's waving at me! I'm used to deer being in the road around here...but NOT blondes! I tried to swerve around her...but the handlebars got her...and down we went. I remember the impact...but I don't remember flying off the bike. When I regained my senses...I was laying by the curb up against a guardrail...the bike was a few feet away from me in the street...and so was she. I tried to get up...but my left arm was hurting really bad...and any attemp to stand made it much worse...so I just laid there and told the people around me that I was ok other than that. A couple of others moved her out of the street...and then we waited for the cops and ambulances to show up. She got the first ambulance since the handlebars had whacked her on the head and she was bleeding pretty badly. When the second one arrived...they asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital. I replied "What choice do I have. If I say 'no' are you just going to leave me lying here?" They said they were required to ask me that. At the hospital the x-rays revealed that my shoulder was fractured...but the rest was just bruises and scrapes. Then the cops came in and told me that several of the neighbors had reported her running out into the street all night TRYING to get hit! I don't know what she was smokin' that night...but hopefully the whack to the head knocked some sense into her! It was around the end of August before I could use my arm enough to do the needed repairs...but I managed to get it done...and salvaged at least a little riding time before the cold weather came. After 33 years of riding...that's the only accident I have to report...and I hope to keep it that way :)

I was making a left turn on Skyline Blvd. I had seen the turn late and was going a little fast, and I hit some gravel which panicked me. I started looking at the ditch where I thought I would crash..so I did crash there.
I had to ride the bike down a twisty hill to get to a shop with the shifter and handlebars bent out of shape. Fortunately I didn't really get hurt because I wear piles of safety gear.

Which one... of the dozen or so would you like to hear about..
how about the time I was sitting at the lights.. waiting for a green.. green comes on & I take off.. not slow.. but not flat out either.. nice warm summer night . out cruising around the city... 18 year old kid in his dads new V8 ford comes through the red & T bones me at about 40 MPH..
Pushed the bike out from under me.. lucky he hit the rear wheel & side cover of the bike missing my leg by an inch..
I went across the bonnet..hit the windscreen & ended up in the gutter.. battered & bruised.. no broken bones,, car antena did a good job down my back ,ended up with scar 14 inches long..
Kid didnt even slow down.. just kept going.. Pedestrians got the plate number.. & cops caught him next day.. He told his dad that the car got hit in a car park...
The poor old 650 Savage was never the same again...
did get it back on the road.. but had so much trouble with the electrics (think the smash did something to the wiring) . traded it in on a bigger bike...

I thought you were a squid, now I know you are...
I came over a hill about three miles from my house, coming home from work at about eight at night last week, t-boned a deer. broke the top of my front faring on my EX250. 1/2 hour with epoxy the next day, you cant even tell the bike just made summer sausage the night before. :)
I take that hill a little slower at night now. I was only doing 65 in a 55, so nothing stupid, but I forgot one thing, deer move all the time, and that road is right in their way. had I been in my cage, not only would I not have seen it, but I wouldn't have been able to fix it. the airbags are too sensitive.

Back in 1983 when smoke was smoke and groving was groving the only thing ilegal from Mexico was the govememt sprayed Mary Jane fields that got smuggled into Ohio I rode with a gang of the badest hardcore low life white trash bikers in Akron and one night the keg was really low so the party was ending and every one was taking off ,I was the last to leave and had falling behind by about a quarter of a mile when suddenly some body jumped out in the middle of the road waving their arms in the air .I swerved over to miss them and hit the gravel on the shoulder of the road my back tire slide right out from underneath me and I went down hard and fast , The only thing I could think of while trying to get up was what an a*s*s kicking this dud waving his arms was about to recieve ,But when I got up there was Absolutly nobody around .My bike was still running so I picked it up and jumped in the saddle and starting riding again but the pain started getting unbearable and I rode to the closest friends house and crashed for the night (dont know why that gang of mine never came back looking for me ) The next morning I wake up to this Friends Mother screaming her head off "ohhh He,s Dead Hes Dead .I got up suprising to her and she siad Oh my god what did you do , I could not hardly stand but made it into the bathroom and was in shock at my appearance, The whole right side of my face was road rash with pebbles inbeaded into my cheeks ,my arm was pretty badly scraped and bloody and it really hurt to stand on my foot ,I washed myself up and went looking for my bike it was out in the front yard ,Boy did it look sick . The handle bars where crooked the shifter was bent all the way back tail lights hanging on busted and lots of scraps .I still dont know to this day Who the heck jumped in front of me are if anybody even did are how the hell I rode that bike home ,Maybe it was the bike that beat me up on the way home and not the road ,But I still love to ride and will untill that road takes me Home /peace

lol... ur turn. That's funny, you tell your story so quickly and sound eager to hear someone else tell you theirs.
I haven't had an accident yet, and I really, really hope not to! My husband has a suicide clutch though, and one night he was getting ready to take off, something happened and he started moving forward, dragging his feet. He pulled on his handlebars to get better positioned on the bike and they folded right down on top of him! So he couldn't get anything working right and he was dragged across the sidewalk, off the curb and across the street before he could kill it. I only watched it and I was scared enough. (It's a big highway, not really a street, so I was really worried that someone would come flying by in the night and hit him)
