I have these black olives on my plate. They're looking at me. I'm supposed to eat these for dinner. What is an olive? Is it nutritionally complete? Was it once alive? I hope it's a vegetable!

well its a vegetable...it was once alive...of course now its not since you are supposed to eat it...but don't drop it on the floor...he's your friend

an olive is a sort of veg/fruit,they grow on olive trees,in Greece.they are not alive,lol. you can get green or black olives.they are usually bought "pitted" as have a stone in the middle.they are yummy on Pizza,in salad,especially Greek salad which consist of Feta (goats?) cheese and an oily dressing. enjoy!

oh, I love olives, any kind, and they are a fruit I believe, they grow on trees. The olive branch is supposedly the tree branch the dove brought back to Noah on the ark so that he knew there was dry land.Just thought I'd share that with ya!!
