Olives are a bitter fruit, that substitutes for a vegetable. They are soaked in brine or sodium hydroxide to take the bitter out of them.Due to the olive oil within the flesh they are extremely heart healthy.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olives

oh, I love olives, any kind, and they are a fruit I believe, they grow on trees. The olive branch is supposedly the tree branch the dove brought back to Noah on the ark so that he knew there was dry land.Just thought I'd share that with ya!!
