Always relate the answers some how to the type of job you're going for. For instance, if you're applying for an accounting position you would say, bookkeeping, because it deals with all aspects of accounting giving the opportunity to use all my accounting knowledge and skills. It also keeps things more interesting rather than just dealing with one side of accounting; that's why I don't mind pitching in with other tasks that are not in my job description.

The employer is trying to find out what you value and admire, and see if that matches with the values of the company.
For example, if your answer is Jeff, because he makes big money as a lawyer or Suzy, because she's a teacher and has summers off, then the employer will know you care more about money or taking it easy than you do about dedication or work ethic.
If your answer is Bob, because his job is so well-suited to his interests and he is happy to get up each day and go to work, then your employer will have a much more positive perception of how you value a fulfilling career.
Think about your friends and imagine each of them describing how they feel about their work. Who would have the most positive answer? Who would you feel a little envious of? Zero in on that answer and ask yourself why. What are the values this person/feeling represents?

Pick (or make up) the friend with the most challenging job. Say you like the feeling of overcoming something that other people have trouble with.
