My boyfriend and his ex wife were texting and she became a pain and started texting and telling him all kinda things. So, he told her to *f**king grow up!" She inturn called the police and forwarded the message to them. The police officer came and spoke with my boyfriend and told him that is was boarder line harrassment...... How can telling someone to grow up be harrassment? Is there anything that we can do to stop her from being a pain in the butt anymore?

Unfortunately, he crossed the line when he used crude language. If he had omitted that one word, she couldn't have done anything.

As for what to do, change your phone numbers. Keep a DETAILED log of every interaction. If she wants to play that sort of psycho BS game, then you should too. If the contact becomes burdensome or if it starts to be aggressive, then YOU have the ammunition you need to contact the police AND the courts and file for a restraining order.

In the mean time, I recommend that BOTH of you limit your contact with her...and no more foul language.

Harassment refers to a wide spectrum of offensive behavior. When the term is used in a legal sense it refers to behaviors that are found threatening or disturbing, and beyond those that are sanctioned by society.

Its funny actually you could wear a shirt in public that says "F**king grow up" ( see Cohen v. California, 403 U.S. 15 (1971) ) but you can't send it in a text message.

Seems as though the children have grown up to the the adult children of the world... sadly!

Aren't you a Christian? Either way, Jesus meant to be like children in that children are receptive to the Word of God. Scripture also states: 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. -Till Christ Returns God Bless

Why are you worried about a minor legal issue when clearly your boyfriend hasn't established appropriate boundaries with his ex-wife?!

It is obvious that one or both of them have feelings for the other.

If it is him, then he has to decide which person it will be...once and for all.

If it is her, then she is an "intruder" into your relationship...and he needs to protect your relationship from her, via establishing clear boundaries including (if necessary at all) a non-secretive way of communicating.

Frankly, I don't see why anyone allows ex-spouses to remain in their lives other than to rear children...and even then they should communicate only in email or voicemail (obtainable by a new spouse)...no direct communication.

He can start by ignoring her. She knows his buttons to push.
And he is foolish enough to respond to her.
