The pH of oranges is 3.54. what is the [H+] concentration?

Which has the higest pH- bananas, w/ a pH of 4.9, or orange juice?

Anyone know hwo to do this? It's a science team excersize and I'm not really a chem guy, more so bio. Thanks

if pH = 3.54, [H+] = 10^-3.54 = 2.9 x 10^-4

we do not know the pH of orange juice; however if it is 3.54 and bananas is 4.9, the highest pH is the bananas, the highest concentration of acid is the orange juice. As pH rises, acidity goes down

pH= - log [H+] and it's also known as the acidity of a substance...so a pH of 3.54 would be higher than a pH of 4.9. since the lower the pH value is in actual number the more acidic it is.
4.9 would be the higher pOH value....alkalinity.

the [H+] of the orange juice would be 10^ -pH
= 10 ^ - 3.54
=2.88x10^ -4 mol/L

As Jon said:

pH = - log [H+]

which, when rearranged, equals:
10^[pH] = [H+]

and ya, 4.9 is a higher pH (more basic, less acidic)

If the "white spot" is "ich" (the spots will seem as though grains of salt) it replaced into probable led to via a temperature drop interior the final couple of weeks, if the spots look "velvety" then you definately've a secondary fungus an infection following injuries or ammonia burns. the two situations require extensively differing remedies, so make certain of a prognosis in the past commencing up therapy. it may be terrific to refrain from including extra fish until you have cleared up the situation.do no longer complicate the situation from now on than it already is. in case you introduced "ich" in to the tank with the tetras you should attend a minimum of two weeks after the final spots disappear in the past preserving a treatment. Ich spores have a wierd life-cycle. you should comprehend the way it relatively works in the past attempting therapy.
