They know that what they really believe in is too crazy to get anyone to follow them. All they are good for is lip service. They know none of their ideas are worth believing in.

Why are republicans too cowardly to admit when they made a mistake? I am sorry or i was wrong is something you will never here a republican concede, its always stay the course right or wrong, don't ever change policy no matter what new information or evidence comes to light.Even if we are proven wrong never admit it and refuse change cause chagne scares us.Thinking of a new strategy to replace a failed one is smart but its too hard so lets just stick to the original plan even though its bad...thats a republican in a nutshell. At least a democrat can admit when they made a mistake and might make some attempt to change policies to correct the mistake.Republicans are too proud to admit they are ever wrong so if they make a mistake you are stuck with it cause they won't change their position and will make no attempt to fix it.When you are reasonable and open minded and can say "ok well this isn't working out so we need to try something else" you are called a flip flopper.Or if you change your mind on supporting the war because you found out the REPUBLICAN president lied to you about every reason he said we needed to go to war with Iraq and were in imminent danger if we didn't.Its funny how they think someone changing their mind is a bad leader but soemone who created the lie which was the reason for the flip flop is a great leader lol.You can have a more intelligent converstion with a group of people with down's sundrome then what you could have with a group of republicans and i am not even saying it as a joke cause sadly its actually true.

You need to read Political News more often! The Democrats Did Not Have Enough Votes To Override A VETO! Don't attempt to grandstand unless you know what you are talking about!

To say 'they have the votes' strikes me as somewhat ill-informed. Yes, just as the recently vetoed bill illustrates (it passed, but there were not enough votes to over-ride it), a bare majority does not win the day. I would humbly suggest that before you wantonly cast dispersions, that you first step back and take a bit of time to study and more fully understand just how our system of government operates. You may not like what you see, but blind pejoratives are not a positive solution either. Blessings...

Actually, they don't need to override a veto to end the war - they just need to de-fund it. That means just /not/ passing a funding bill (and, since when has innaction been a difficult thing to accomplish in Congress). They could have not done that, but they did it, instead.

Your right, the Dems are cowards. At the end of the day their just politicians trying to protect themselves. They live in fear of saying something that can be spun as anti-patriotic. Yet they have a need to keep talking so that no one forgets who they are. It's like watching an animal that's in the middle of the food chain. They need to leave their hiding space to eat, but risk getting eaten themselves. That's probably why they can only win an election when the Republicans screw up bad.

Because they're owned by the same corporations and special interest groups that own the Republicans, silly! Hard to disagree too strongly when you're playing for the same team behind the scenes...

Not that simple. They may be able to pass the bill, but don't have the power to override the veto.

Republicans are the cowards. Democrats avoid this problem by never actually saying what they believe. They simply engage in demagoguery so as to brow-beat Republicans.

they said they "want to start bringing troops home"
nice idea.
but, they are not sure how.
because..
Colin Powell was right - we own that country now
And "good intentions" won't get the Democrats any farther than good intentions helped bush and his blind supporters.
