1884 Charley Radbourn with 59 win.
It wasn't unusual to have pitcher with 40 to 50 wins during 1880's through 1900's. But if you look back in just the past 70 years the most impressive performance came from Denny Mclain (DET) which finished the 1968 season with 31 wins. He's the only pitcher since 1934 to have won 30+ games in a single season.

If your talking about a pitcher, I don't know.. probably someone from a while ago when they pitched more often, if it's a team, I believe the Mariners have it with 117?
