You know I asked this question a few months ago and got some good answers. I think he should be in the Hall of Fame because of what he did as a player. He gambled as a manager. He is the greatest hitter of all time and it's a travesty if he never gets in. As for softball lover, you don't know who Pete Rose is but you answered the question. Next time get a clue before you waste anybody's time. If you don't know who Pete Rose is then you don't belong in the baseball category.

He's not in the Hall of Fame, so he can't get kicked out. The reason gambling is a bigger issue than steroids is because you can bet on the other team and then throw the game. Gambling calls into question the integrity of the game.

I think after all these years that baseball allows Rose to ener the Hall of Fame I do not believe they will kick him out.

I cannot stress enough that the correct answer is:
NO! NEVER! NO WAY!
PETE ROSE SHOULD NEVER EVER BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR THE HALL OF FAME, NOT EVEN AS A PAYING CUSTOMER!
NOT EVEN AFTER HE'S BEEN DEAD FOR 100 YEARS!
*any REAL baseball fan would know that*

Considering he's not even in the hall...
Imo, he didn't do anything to enhance his career on the field and therefore should be judged on what he did on the field, not off, because betting on the game didn't enhance his career in any way.
Although, on the other side you can see why gambling is a big issue if you look at the 1919 Chicago "Black Sox"

The man has been banned form the game forever. Until that banned is lifted he is not even considered. This will be his last year of eligibility coming up and I don't see them lifting the ban nor him getting enough votes to get in if they do all in the same year.
