You bet you should. Whether or not he returns to the starting rotation or remains the closer you will get a guy with elite stuff. Best bet is for him to return to the closer role once he returns and with the stuff he brings to the mound you will get top 5 numbers out of him. The Phillies will bring him back when he is 100% so there will be no issues (guys get injured all the time...no big deal). I would get my waiver claim in on him if it were me....top end pitchers dont end up on the waiver wire very often.

Pick him up. He was dominating in his role as reliever and I have a feeling Tom Gordon won't be pitching as a closer much longer. He WILL get you saves, a ton of strikes and will have a decent ERA while doing it. If he doesn't get the closer job still look for him to be a long relief pitcher, 1-2 innings 4 K's type deal like he has been doing and to the first guy that answered, an injury doesn't mean the end of a career it happens to almost everyone. If that is the attitude everyone has on injuries there would be no players in any professional sports.

No, he is on the DL. Anyway, he probably won't do very well when he comes back. The injury will not help him or the Phillies very much. He probably won't be very good when he comes back. It is always tough to come back from an injury like that. Felix Hernandez just came off the DL and he is not doing very well either. I wouldn't pick him up, even if he is the closer.

He WILL be the closer when he returns. pick him up and place him on your DL and possibly look for a Jeremy Accardo or a Kevin Gregg if available.
