"Are you kidding me, this isn't cheese!"
In reality I would probably come up with something really good but that's the first thing I thought of.

Did you know that when Neil Armstrong said "that's one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind" he messed up. In all reality when he said small step for man that means the same thing as mankind. He should have said "that's one small step for "a" man and one giant leap for mankind." I still think what he said was good though.

On a serious matter I would probably say "For once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."- Leonardo da Vinci
I just really like that quote because it's very true.

Hate to tell you this, but Neal Armstrong was a civilian at the time he landed. He worked for NASA as a civilian employee, He had been in the Navy and flown several combat missions, but he left the navy on August 23, 1952, becoming a Lieutenant, junior grade in the United States Naval Reserve. He later resigned his commission in the Naval Reserve on October 20, 1960.

So the first civilian to walk on the Moon was Neal Armstrong.

Some think that one of the reasons he was picked to do the first moon walk was that he wasn't currently a serving military officer... the point of Apollo was "We came in peace for all mankind." Having a Marine Colonel be the first guy to walk on the moon would sort of counteract that.

Mostly though he was picked because he was one heck of a darn good pilot.

"So where's the McDonald's?" or maybe, "I paid ten million for THIS?" or maybe "One small vacation for a science fiction reader, one huge dream come true for thousands of science fiction writers." Actually it would probably be something profound and unfunny, unless I could actually muster up the nerve to come up with something witty and hilarious.

"Aaaah! Alien!" But that's just for fun.

In actuality, I would hope I could come up with something more profound during the preparation for the trip and the actual journey itself.

Probably just "Wow!"

And then I hope I come up with something more profound ... would it be a cop out to quote someone else?
