Despite what you may think, Sister Mary Elephant is not old enough to remember back that far.
Ask her, "What were the Romans doing...using diplomacy to establish empire?"

If Sister Mary Elephant is a teacher, she needs to pack her trunk with some history books, particularly about the Roman Empire. Britian wasn't even finally invaded until after the presumed date of the death of Christ. Just refer the sister to the Boudicaan revolt and the fights against the Druids leading to the massacre on Anglesey.

I'm afraid Sr Mary Elephant doesn't know much about history. The battles mentioned above are correct, and what about Asia & Africa, or the Americas? Did the Aborginies (sp?) have wars in Australia?

the Romans were at war during that entire period. In point of fact, Emporer Hadrian visited England in 122 AD and built Hadrian's Wall across England (known at the time as Londinium) to keep the warring pictish tribes from razing villages. The wall still stands across much of England.
Plenty of other wars too, during that period.

Afraid your teacher is a bit of a propagandist. :(
