At first I was going to say yes, but the smell of burning plastic is a very bad sign.

You should still try. First though, dry it out. the best way to do this is to set it directly in front of your AC for a couple of days. (unless you feel comfortable with disassembling it.)

I have been able to resurrect a Laptop that was dropped in the ocean. It was off at the time though.

Doesn't sound good but anything is worth a try, open up you laptop and put it out in the sun for a couple of hours, make sure that you cover the screen with a towel to protect it against uv rays.

Best of luck

Too late, if you spilled liquid on the laptop and the laptop was turned off or you immediately turned it off, then you could let it dry and it will work, but be warned that the heat can reliquify the spilled liquid and damage it.

Just give it a few minuets. It should work fine. Laptops are made to withstand spills. Just leave it plugged in and once it dries it should be fine.
