Yes. Two planes hit the two tall, skinny towers at speeds of better than 400 mph and they collapsed. Jet fuel possibly shot through the ventialtion system and with the weight of the rubble from the towers, WTC7 went down as well.

Remember, 9/11 finished the job the terrorists failed to do when they tried to explode a truck bomb in the WTC's underground garage in 1993. That may have weakened the structure of the WTC more than we anticipated.

Yes, a massive team of structural engineers has developed and simulated hypotheses that closely mimic what was actually observed. From a preliminary report:

Working Collapse Hypothesis:
the working collapse hypothesis
suggests that it was a classic progressive collapse, including:
An Initiating Event
􀂉 An initial local failure at the lower floors (below Floor 13) of the
building due to fire and/or debris induced structural damage of a critical column (the initiating event), which supported a large span floor bay with an area of about 2,000 ft2
A Vertical Progression at the East Side of the Building
􀂉 Vertical progression of the initial local failure up to the east
penthouse, as large floor bays were unable to redistribute the loads, bringing down the interior structure below the east penthouse
A Subsequent Horizontal Progression from the East to the West Side
􀂉 Horizontal progression of the failure across the lower floors (in the region of Floors 5 and 7, that were much thicker than the rest of the floors), triggered by damage due to the vertical failure
Global Collapse
􀂉 Events resulted in a disproportionate collapse of the entire structure

WTC7 was deliberate. I think it was a precautionary measure however. What's the big deal?

I'll blame Osama for it. If you don't have a good explanation it's his fault. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
