As the above contributor wrote, Fishing is the main sport of the region (in the summer). The Klondike center in town has your "fun" covered with a bowling alley, skating ring, restaurant, pawn shop, and local radio station. Be careful of the Moose and Carabu that roam the streets. If you're there in Winter, then snow skiing isn't too far away. Oh, and go pet the hugh stuffed Bear standing on his hind legs in the Mall for me.

Fishing...The Kenai river is home to the largest king salmon in the world. That area is one of the prettiest in all of Alaska, and that is truly saying something. It has great fishing, sightseeing, canoe, and hiking.
There is a travel website set up for just that area of Alaska, try a search and you will find it.
