In comparing two compounds of nitrogen and oxygen, it was found that for every 14 grams of nitrogen in compound A there were 16 grams of oxygen. c.) Dalton's law of multiple proportions.

The law of definite proportions was Proust. Dalton's hypothesis was that matter iscomposed of atoms.
