It's in my bedroom. Should I have it facing my bed to blow air on me or facing out the doorway so it blows the hot air out? The air conditioner (which isn't doing a great job either!) is in the living room.

Put it in the doorway facing your bed so it brings cooler air from the living room in to your bedroom.

Blowing across you if it doesn't bother you.
1- You can feel the air movement.
2- If you blow it out the door, then you have to ask yourself where will the air replacing it come from?
3- Blowing it out the door top half the cool air can come in through the bottom of the doorway.
4- Blowing the air across you depends again, where is it coming from?
5- If the fan is located high or near the top of the door it will bring in warmer air than if it is on the floor.
Try it in several of these positions and select the one that makes you the most comfortable.
Good Luck ! ! !

If you only have the one AC in the other room, you should put the fan on the floor blowing INTO your bedroom as cold air settles and hot air rises, it will force the hot air out of your room through the top of the doorway. Another thing you can do to increase the output of the fan (if you don't have small children) is to remove the front grille, as it restricts ALOT of airflow.

I hope this helps!

I would say, facing your bed. I have mine aimed to blow over the bed so cooler air is passing over me. This seems to help.

A/C on... low to the floor and pointing at you
A/C off... out a window on the hottest side of the house with window open near you and second fan on you.

hotter air rises and cooler air falls to the lowest points.
